Privacy Policy

Overview

Settle is built with privacy at its core. We process your voice recordings solely to extract actionable tasks, and we delete audio files immediately after processing. We do not sell your data.

Voice Recordings

• Audio is recorded locally on your iPhone in M4A format.
• Recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API over an encrypted connection for transcription, then to GPT-4o Mini for task extraction.
• Audio files are permanently deleted from your device immediately after processing. We do not store, retain, or archive your recordings.

Task Data

• Tasks are stored locally on your device using App Groups (shared with the home screen widget).
• Completed tasks are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
• Task data is not uploaded to any server or cloud service.

Analytics

• We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics such as app opens, recording events, and subscription status.
• Analytics data does not include the content of your recordings, transcripts, or tasks.
• No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Subscriptions

• Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat.
• We do not have access to your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple.

Third-Party Services

• OpenAI — Whisper (transcription) and GPT-4o Mini (task extraction). All API calls are encrypted.
• RevenueCat — Subscription entitlement management.
• PostHog — Anonymous usage analytics.

Data Security

All network communication uses HTTPS encryption. Audio data exists only in your device's temporary directory during processing and is deleted immediately after.

Children's Privacy

Settle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.

Acceptance

By downloading or using Settle, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Description of Service

Settle is an iPhone app that lets you record voice memos and uses AI to extract actionable tasks from your speech. The app includes a home screen widget, task management, and optional paid subscription access.

Voice Processing

• Recordings are limited to 60 seconds per session.
• Audio is processed via OpenAI's Whisper and GPT-4o Mini APIs to transcribe speech and extract tasks.
• Recordings are deleted immediately after processing. Settle does not store your audio.
• If the primary AI service is unavailable, the app may fall back to on-device speech recognition.

Subscriptions

• Settle offers a free trial during onboarding. Continued use requires an active subscription.
• Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID via the App Store.
• Manage or cancel in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone.
• Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy.

Your Content

• You retain ownership of everything you record and the tasks generated from it.
• Task data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your tasks or transcripts.
• Completed tasks are automatically removed after 24 hours.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the app, reverse engineer it, or use it for any unlawful purpose. You are responsible for the content you record.

Availability

Settle requires iOS 17.0 or later and an internet connection for voice processing. We may update or modify the app at any time.

Limitation of Liability

Settle is provided "as is." We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. AI-generated tasks may not perfectly reflect your intent — always review your task list.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Settle after changes constitutes acceptance.
